Inner Development Goals
This chapter is in the book Inner Development Goals

Abstract

How can the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) framework gain leverage and global impact? And how can the IDG community best position itself to communicate its message to those who need to hear it? What are the crucial factors that help to prepare it for this challenge? We argue that increasing the quality of coherence with and across the IDG field is one of them.

We see coherence both as our natural state of being, our true nature, and as a means to strengthen the collective power, focus, and impact of social change agents working towards global systems transformation.

This chapter presents and discusses a number of preliminary results of the EU-funded Cohere+ project’s action research into the phenomenon and quality of coherence. More specifically, it focuses on two core questions:

  1. What role does or could coherence play in each of the dimensions of the IDG framework as an overarching quality?

  2. How can the IDG community be supported in increasing the degree of its own inner coherence as a precondition to fully step into its power?

Based on our deep dive into the phenomenon, we offer some insights and learnings that could benefit the IDG community.
