How to live together? This volume investigates this question by examining Roland Barthes’s concept of idiorrhythmy, or one’s "own" life rhythm, in theoretical chapters and readings of literary texts. It sounds out the concept’s potential for literary and cultural studies in order to open up new perspectives on poetic devices, and figurations and narratives of community, belonging, and living together, and how they are negotiated in literature.
