About this book

The Dominican Third Rule was approved in in 1405 and helped to integrate existing groups of laypeople (like Beguines) into the Order of Preachers. This volume is the first to fully examine the introduction of the Third Rule in the German-speaking regions as well as the different lifestyles practiced by people in third orders, thereby creating links between the history of orders, and the religious and social history of the late Middle Ages.
