Ein Kapitel aus dem Buch Digital Twins

Abstract

Virtual reality and digital twins are important technologies for designing, simulating, and optimising cyber-physical production systems, as well as interacting with them remotely or collaboratively, in relation to the modern web of things and Industry 4.0. Additionally, these technologies give up new opportunities for workstation joint design and mechanics research based on Industry 4.0 elements such as robotic systems. Additionally, a framework for open and flexible simulation with special design concerns is required. To achieve these goals and create a dynamic and immersive virtual environment, it is necessary to integrate the immersive virtual environment’s interactional skills with the digital twin’s ability to simulate the production system. This chapter suggests architecture for information exchange between virtual reality software and digital twins before presenting a use case on the design and evaluation of a collaborative workplace including humans and robots. Additionally, it focuses on a hybrid discrete-continuous simulation architecture designed especially for digital twin applications. SimPy, a well-known Python discrete-event simulation toolkit, provides the foundation of the framework. First, it provides a methodical procedure for incorporating continuous process simulations into SimPy’s event-stepped engine.
