This chapter is in the book Green Chemistry

Abstract

This chapter presents a critical analysis of the United Nations sustainable development goals (UN SDGs). It then discusses those goals most relevant to the field of chemistry, focusing on pioneering advances at the convergence of the UN SDGs, green chemistry, and nanochemistry. This narrative will help educators better understand the relationship between green chemistry and the SDGs. Moreover, educators will learn how new advances in nanochemistry can help fulfill the SDGs allowing for the development of new pedagogic approaches in teaching the concept of sustainability.
