Abstract

Nanotechnology has been booming in the pharmaceutical world since decades in multiple approaches such as nanodevices, nanomaterials, nanoformulations and nanocrystals. These approaches have served a better therapeutic effect on the body by reducing side effects and toxic effects. The implement of the technical tools and technical knowledge of nanotechnology in treatment and prevention of the diseases is known as nanomedicine. Technically the nanomedicine is divided into two parts. The primary is the diagnostic approach performed by quantum dots (QDs), dendrimers and nanosized metal oxides. The secondary is the therapeutic approach that consists of nanoparticles (NPs), liposomes, nanocrystals, nanoemulsions, nanocomplexes and so on. These are served as a carrier for pharmaceutical molecules by incorporating it as the nanocarrier for the treatment of various chronic diseases such as cancer and neuro diseases. This chapter emphasis on how nanomedicines’ and nano-based drug delivery systems’ opportunities and challenges change the scenario of the world by using powerful agents such as vesicular structure, nanomaterials and NPs for novel drug delivery. These have a specific role in synthetic drugs and natural drugs diagnosis by using disease marker molecules followed by inclination and frame of reference of nanomedicine area.
