Interdisziplinäre Interpretation: Theoretische Grundlagen und methodische Ansätze

  • Christiane Zimmermann

Abstract

The understanding of runology as a linguistic and yet interdisciplinary research discipline is widely spread. Nevertheless, the integration of other than linguistic data into the interpretation procedure has often been viewed with great reservation, even clear rejection. It is argued that this assessment largely results from the way the term linguistic is used. Based on a broader, functional concept of language and linguistic, a theoretical linguistic framework and methodological steps are introduced on the basis of which both linguistic text and context data contribute to the interpretation according to an integrative interpretation procedure. As a conclusion, this specific internal interdisciplinarity of runology and runological interpretation is outlined in a few case studies.
