Abstract
In this chapter we discuss how currere can support research in Applied Linguistics (AL). We examine studies where currere or a similar approach has been used as a research method in Applied Linguistics. Citing these studies, we discuss how they can be used as examples for future currere-based AL research. Following that discussion, we also provide guidance about considerations that researchers should be aware of before choosing currere as their research approach. This discussion will help guide AL researchers in using currere in the different stages of a currere-based AL research project. Lastly, we address affordances, limitations, and ethical considerations of using currere in AL research, especially within studies that examine power dynamics used within language. Additionally, we provide guidance on how to use currere in studies where there is a larger group of participants.
