About this journal
The Berliner Theologische Zeitschrift (Berlin Theological Journal; BThZ) informs readers of contemporary developments in theology, poses questions about the current state of the church and society, and provides a forum for dialogue about new insights and research findings. In addition to its significance for the profile of theology in Germany, it is an excellent resource for the continuing education of pastors and religious educators, and is targeted at anybody interested in theology.
One issue of the BThZ will appear each year from 2020. The issues either have a thematic focus (e.g., the church, aesthetics, theodicy) or are devoted to specific theological disciplines (e.g., the Old Testament, the New Testament, church history, systematic theology, practical theology, religious studies). BThZ publishes in German language.
Authors are personally invited by the editorial board to submit contributions. Please do not send in any unsolicited submissions. We also request that you do not send us any review suggestions or review copies.
Overview about recent and upcoming issues and topics:
- vol. 37 (2020): "Gott und Zeit"
- vol. 38 (2021): "Zukunfts-Sichten zwischen Prognose und Divination"
- vol. 39 (2022): "Sprache - Macht - Religion"
- vol. 40 (2023): "Theologie und Kinder"
- vol. 41 (2024): "Heilige Räume - Räume des Heiligen".
Each volume is also available as a separate print version without obligation of subscription.
The BThZ is accompanied by a supplement that is published once yearly. It documents the talks given within the scope of the Werner Reihlen lectures at Humboldt University, which are intended to further dialogue between theology and other disciplines.
The editors of the BThZ are grateful to receive any suggestions or critical opinions about individual contributions or the conceptualization of entire issues.
