After Germany capitulated on May 8, 1945, publishers from Leipzig were required to move to the West Zones and set up new book trade structures. In Frankfurt a.M., a new booksellers' association, exchange association, book fair, and archive library were established. Volume 4/1 of the History of the German Book Trade in the 19th and 20th Centuries explores this period, from its fresh start in Frankfurt a.M. to the founding of the FRG.
