This book provides a brief introduction to the sociology of art. It presents the important foundational works and the perspectives on art associated with them as well as the latest research. Moreover, it provides insight into the genesis of the sociology of art and discusses important questions about what separates this field from neighboring disciplines.
Die Verhaltensgenetik blickt auf eine gut replizierte Studienlage. Daher wird es zunehmend schwerer, sie in den Sozialwissenschaften zu ignorieren und gleichzeitig den Anspruch zu erheben, kausale Muster der Entstehung und Reproduktion sozialer Ungleichheit zu identifizieren. Der erste von zwei Teilen dieses Lehrbuchs gibt einen einleitenden, aber kritischen Überblick über die zentralen Ideen, analytischen Mechanismen und methodologischen Ansätze der Verhaltensgenetik. Dieser Teil schließt mit dem Kontrast zwischen dem soziologischen und dem verhaltensgenetischen Ansatz der Erklärung intergenerationaler Vererbung innerhalb von Familien. Im zweiten Teil nimmt die Darstellung des „interaktionistischen Konsenses", also der Idee, dass Unterschiede im menschlichen Verhalten immer durch Gene und Umwelt im Zusammenspiel entstehen, eine zentrale Rolle ein. Dafür werden die Konzepte der Gen-Umwelt-Korrelationen und der Gen-Umwelt-Interaktionen eingeführt und für soziologische Inhalte diskutiert und empirisch aufgearbeitet. Verhaltensgenetische Inhalte und Ansätze können und sollen soziologische Erkenntnisse nicht ersetzen, so die grundlegende Perspektive des Lehrbuchs, aber sie sind zwingend nötig, um soziale Prozesse ohne biologische Konfundierung sichtbar zu machen.

Das Lehrbuch gibt einen Überblick über die soziologische Emotions- und Affektforschung. Neben der Entwicklung und den Grundkonzepten emotionssoziologischer Theoriebildung, werden empirische Forschungsmöglichkeiten und gegenwärtige Trends aufgezeigt. Um das weite Feld der Emotions- und Affektforschung gegenstandnah abzustecken, werden einige zentrale Forschungsfelder vorgestellt und einzelne distinkte Gefühle in ihrer sozialen Funktion diskutiert. Gerade Studierenden soll der Einstieg erleichtert werden, indem die Beiträge Kernthemen der Emotions- und Affektforschung in Relation zu zentralen Paradigmen und Zeitdiagosen der Soziologie besprechen. Auf diesem Weg adressiert die Einführung Potentiale und Schwierigkeiten des sozialwissenschaftlichen Studiums der Gefühle.
This textbook is the first to provide an introduction to the sociology of social robotics. This field does not just deal with the development of social robots and their consequences, but also with the question of what constitutes sociality and under what conditions machines can participate in it. Social robots are thus not just innovative communication technologies, but also raise fundamental questions about the limits of sociality.
The numerous and far-reaching socio-political transformations that have taken place on the European continent since the mid-20th century have stipulated the emergence of new approaches and research fields in the social sciences. One of these is the development of a Sociology of Europeanization. This textbook provides an overview of its major topics, concepts, and research approaches. Each of the 14 chapters of this textbook introduces one particular topic of the Sociology of Europeanization – ranging from major conceptual considerations to an exploration of the numerous spatial, cultural, economic, political, judicial, and socio-structural implications of Europeanization. Hence, this book is very suitable as a fundamental introductory reading and for teaching in European studies and related study programs. It is also recommended to everyone who is interested in more recent European history and current sociological studies of transnationalization.
