Kulturstiftung der Länder
For over three decades, the Kulturstiftung der Länder (Cultural Foundation of the German States) has been devoted to its statutory task: supporting museums, libraries and archives in the acquisition, dissemination and preservation of nationally significant works of art and cultural assets. The Kulturstiftung der Länder has been publishing its PATRIMONIA series since 1988. PATRIMONIA presents in-depth academic analyses of selected acquisitions, produced in collaboration with the institutions receiving funding. Thus, the collection- and object-related, basic research is directly related to the tasks of the Kulturstiftung der Länder, and its results are presented in the PATRIMONIA series. Since 2025, the spectrum of funded projects presented has been expanded to include special and anthology volumes as well as topics such as restoration.
How can cultural heritage stay alive in a changing society dealing with climate change and armed conflict? And what political frameworks are needed to shape a sustainable cultural landscape? In this volume, experts from the fields of culture, politics and science explore the current challenges and future prospects in handling our cultural heritage. They present strategies that enable appropriate protection, contemporary communication, and sustainable development. The contributions provide valuable insights for anyone involved in the strategic development of cultural heritage and wanting to actively shape the future of our cultural identity.
