Illyricum et provinciae Europae Graecae
In continuation of the first partial volume of Miliaria imperii Romani (1986), which is devoted to the milestones of the Gallic and Germanic provinces (CIL XVII/Pars 2), Gerold Walser (†), Anne Kolb, and Gerhard Winkler now present the epigraphic material from Raetia and Noricum. It is the first of three fascicles that are to cover the Roman road network stretching south of Danube from the Adriatic Sea to the Black Sea.
This volume provides extensive documentation of the Roman milestones from the province of Dalmatia, together with an edition of the inscriptions found on them. On the basis of the milestones and archaeological evidence, it was possible to reconstruct the Roman road system in the province. The documentation of some 350 milestones and their inscriptions includes the history of their discovery, a description of the finds, photos, drawings, a bibliography and a critical commentary. Detailed road maps and indices complete the volume.
