Yearbook of Phraseology
About this journal
The Yearbook of Phraseology is a fully international, peer-reviewed publication dedicated to research in phraseology, a linguistic subfield concerned with the study of word combinations of varying extent and type, and different degrees of fixedness. Word combinations are ubiquitous in language and constitute a significant resource for communication. Their study is of interest to many other subdisciplines of linguistics and even to other disciplines, throwing light on the make-up of constructions, their processing and learning, the make-up and modes of creation of complex building blocks of language, the methodology and use of corpora and statistical methods, as well as on the way in which language functions.
The Yearbook of Phraseology is sponsored by the European Society of Phraseology (Europhras).

Please send an electronic version of your submission in MS Word by email to the Managing Editor: yop@europhras.org
It would be helpful to the editors if you could follow the following guidelines in preparing manuscripts for submission. In any event, should your submission be accepted for publication, you will be responsible for ensuring that these guidelines are then adhered to.
Manuscript submission
- Manuscripts may be submitted at any time.
- Please send an electronic version of your submission in MS Word by email to the managing editor.
- The editors of the Yearbook will assume that all submissions contain original work which has not been previously published and the submission is not being considered for publication elsewhere unless you tell us otherwise. If a related article is being published or considered elsewhere this should be acknowledged by email to the managing editor.
- Please also note that the Yearbook of Phraseology aims to publish only articles which are of a high standard and which make a significant original contribution to the field.
Format and style guidelines
- Manuscripts should generally be no longer than 8000 words.
- To enable anonymous refereeing to take place, the front page of the manuscript should carry only the title of the paper, name/s and affiliation/s of author/s, the word count for the main text of the paper, and full contact addresses for correspondence – postal, email, fax and telephone.
- Please do not cite your own work in a way that could identify you.
- Correspondence will be sent to the first-named author unless otherwise indicated.
- A one-paragraph abstract (upper limit 150 words) must accompany the initial submission if the article is in English. It should be followed by a maximum of five keywords. If the submission is in a language other than English, an extended abstract (approximately 0.5 pages) in English is required. This should be written in an impersonal style, using constructions such as it has been demonstrated, it has yet to be shown.
- When preparing a manuscript, authors should refer to the De Gruyter Mouton journal style sheet, especially regarding the proper format for citations and reference entries. The style sheet can be found here: http://www.degruyter.com/staticfiles/pdfs/mouton_journal_stylesheet.pdf
- Please check thoroughly the accuracy, completeness and order of references before submission. It saves the editors a great deal of time if contributors check that their list of references adheres exactly to the style sheet.
Deadlines
The annual deadline for the submission of manuscripts for each Yearbook volume is March 15th.
The annual deadline for the submission of reviews for each Yearbook volume is May 15th.
Preparing final versions
If your manuscript requires revision, then revisions need to be completed within four weeks at the latest, or the submission will be held over to the next issue of the Yearbook.
Hybrid Open Access
In this journal, authors have the option to publish their article under an open access license. Open Access allows you as an author to retain copyright and share your findings with colleagues and interested parties worldwide without any restraints.
