About this journal

Starting 2025, The Linguistic Review  will be transferred to Open Access on a year-by-year basis. All articles will thus appear without delay under the Creative Commons license CC BY 4.0. There will be no publication costs for the authors. The Open Access transformation is based on Subscribe-to-Open. You can find more information about the model here.

Objective
The Linguistic Review publishes high-quality papers in phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics, within a framework of Generative Grammar and related disciplines, as well as critical discussions of theoretical linguistics as a branch of cognitive psychology.

Striving to be a platform for discussion, The Linguistic Review does not accept brief book reviews but we welcome review articles of important new monographs that represent new trends in the field.

The Linguistic Review is a peer-reviewed journal of international scope.

Submission process

    • Set your manuscript according to the guidelines below
    • Authors are asked to check their manuscripts very carefully befores submitting them in order to prevent delays and extra costs at proofing. Authors will receive PDF proofs for correction which must be returned by dates given in the publication schedule
    • Double-blind peer review procedure that usually takes 4 months. Submissions are sent to at least 2 reviewers
    • Decision on your paper
    • Ahead of print publishing
    • Upon publication, authors will receive electronic offprints (in PDF format) of their contribution. Guest editors of special issues will receive complimentary print copies of the issue

 

 

Please note

  • Manuscripts of articles should be in English. Authors whose native language is not English are asked to have their article carefully checked by a native speaker
  • Please consult the De Gruyter Mouton journal style sheet when preparing the final version of your article manuscript. Any special characters used should be labelled in one of the hard copies and clearly identified at their first occurrence. The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to reject any articles that do not conform to the requirements
  • Copies of any letters granting permission to reproduce illustrations or tables from other sources, or lengthy quoted passages, must be included with the manuscript
  • Before submitting your article please have a look at our Publication Et hics Statement and our copyright agreement
  • Once your article is accepted you have the option to publish it open access.
  • Our repository policy allows you to distribute 30 PDF copies of your published article to colleagues (the PDF has to include the information that it is an author's copy). Please also feel free to distribute the link to the online abstract
