His major publications include Boris Chicherin and Early Russian Liberalism (1828 - 1866) (Stanford University Press, 1992), plus twelve other books and edited volumes. With Semion Lyandres, Hamburg is founding co-editor of Journal of Modern Russian History and Historiography (Brill), now in its seventeenth year.
