The correspondence between Stefan George (1868–1933) and Hugo von Hofmannsthal (1874–1929) from the period 1891 to 1906 has been one of the most important documents of modern German literature since its first edition in 1938. The new critical edition reconstructs a significantly expanded corpus in a revised chronology, encompassing 232 letters, 42 enclosures, and 102 drafts. It is also the first edition to extensively annotate the correspondence.
