Entries comprise relevant biographical data, addresses, details on fields of research and work, as well as a selected bibliography. The appendix of the printed edition includes a necrology, a subject index, and a calendar listing special birthdays.

The online edition can be ordered independently. It is updated constantly and allows targeted searching for criteria such as field of work etc. In addition to the printed edition it provides information regarding more than 12,000 academics which have been reported as deceased since 1996 as well as more than 20,000 archived entries no longer included in the printed edition.
