About this book
The book provides a thorough introduction to Indo-European linguistics.
It offers a comprehensive overview of the Proto-Indo-Indo-European language, its grammar and its lexicon. The grammatical topics of phonology, morphology and syntax are presented in detail. In the lexicon chapter, vocabulary and word formation are dealt with in a clear and comprehensible way, also taking etymology into account.
Before these core chapters, which show the linguistic structure of Proto-Indo-European, there are some general chapters:
A presentation of the current situation in the discipline of Indo-European studies to provide guidance as to which universities are conducting research on this subject.
A description and explanation of the methodology of Indo-European linguistics, which combines the historical perspective, the principle of comparison and the logic of reconstruction.
