This volume examines the extent to which Ornela Vorpsi and Bessa Myftiu carry over their geographic and linguistic distance to their country of origin, Albania, into their literary texts. It argues that they realize their extra-literary need for distance within their literature through their use of certain narrative strategies: fragmentation, visuality, intertextuality, and irony.
