About this book

Michel Chodkiewicz's work on Ibn al-'Arabî and his dissemination, such as Emir Abd el-Kader, Spiritual writings and The Seal of Saints. Prophecy and sanctity in the works of Ibn Arabî and A Ocean without Shore. Ibn Arabi, the Book and the Law have profoundly influenced not only those who attended his courses at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (Paris), but also numerous colleagues and young researchers. In this volume dedicated to his memory, they wish to bear witness to their gratitude and their debt to a fertile work that has borne much fruit, as this volume shows. The studies gathered here focus first on different aspects of Ibn al-ʿArabī's work, on its antecedents and extensions, and finally on various paths to holiness, right up to our own time. The volume contains: a biography and bibliography by Michel Chodkiewicz; 32 contributions divided into four parts: 1) Listening to the Master 2) In the Sillage of Ibn al-'Arabī 3) Sinety and Initiative Ways 4) Witnesses; indexes.

Michel Chodkiewicz was deeply involved in all the fields that are dealt with in this volume, and there could be no better tribute to his memory than to make his intellectual legacy bear fruit.
