Margo DeMello (PhD, Cultural Anthropology, UC Davis) is an adjunct professor at Canisius College in the Anthrozoology Masters Program. She has directed the human-animal studies program at the Animals and Society Institute for fifteen years. Her many books include Speaking for Animals: Animal Autobiographical Writing (Routledge, 2015), Body Studies: An Introduction (Routledge, 2014), and Mourning Animals: Rituals and Practices Surrounding Animal Death (Michigan State, 2016). She specializes in critical animal studies, anthrozoology, animals and popular culture, and animal protection as a social movement.
