He made significant contributions to the development of the foundations of mathematics and the axiomatic method, dimension theory, measure theory, and vector analysis, among other areas.

Hubert C. Kennedy was a professor of mathematics at Providence College until 1976 when he moved to San Francisco, where he continued his research in the history of mathematics. He now lives in Concord, California.
