Abstract
The gadolinium complex with L-proline, [Gd2(L-Pro)6(H2O)6](ClO4)6, has been synthesised and characterised by single crystal X-ray analysis (P1; a = 9.906(3) Å, b = 13.052(5) Å, c = 13.703(5) Å, α = 109.63(3)°, β = 110.31(2)°, γ = 100.72(3)°. The repeated fragment in the polymeric chain is the [Gd2(L-Pro)6(H2O)6]6+ ion. Each Gd3+ centers a distorted square antiprism of eight oxygen atoms provided by four bridging carboxyl groups, a non-bridging carboxyl group and three water molecules. A comparison with the structures of the Pr3+ and Nd3+ complex compounds with L-proline is presented.
