The crystal structure of 5-hydroxy-7-methoxyflavanone

Abstract

The crystal structure of 5-hydroxy-7-methoxyflavanone has been determined by single crystal X-ray analysis. The crystals are orthorhombic, a = 15.835(3), b = 6.897(2), c = 25.064(5) Å, space group Pbca, Z = 8. The structure was refined to R = 0.063 and Rw = 0.062 by full-matrix least-squares methods, using 1133 independent reflections measured with a single-crystal diffractometer. The methoxy group is slightly twisted. The chromon ring system has distorted half-chair conformation, and makes an angle of 71.5(2)° with the plane of the phenyl ring.
