The Patterson function of superstructures: anomalous dispersion effect
Published/Copyright:
August 25, 2010
Abstract
A discussion on the structure determination of a superstructure is given by means of the “partial Patterson” method combined with the “lambda technique”; i.e. difference partial Patterson syntheses are computed from intensities which include the effect of anomalous dispersion of X-rays only. By using this method, advantages are gained for deconvolution of the map, though difficulties still remain.
As a new technique for solving a superstructure, a partial Patterson synthesis is proposed, computed with coefficients |F|2/h2 instead of |F|2. Its application in one dimension is shown.
