Sei fröhlich und sprich darüber. Die Inschriften des Heqaïb, Sohn des Penidbi, als individuelles Selbstzeugnis

Published/Copyright: September 25, 2009

Abstract

Some inscriptions of Heqaïb’s tomb (Qubbet el- Hawa Nr. 28; Urk. VII, 9f.) attract attention because of their unusual content and word choice. Heqaïb presents himself as a bon vivant instead of describing his career. Yet, just because of his cheerful disposition he enjoyed a good reputation and was „beloved by everybody“. This case study presents Heqaïb’s self-descriptions as an example for the expression of an individual attitude within an accepted scope of social norms.
