Abstract
The question of the relation between image and similarity in Peirce is connected with the notion of iconicity and can only find an adequate formulation with reference to the question of primary iconism. The concept of similarity creates some difficulty for the distinction between the ground and the immediate object. In this paper we begin by considering Levinas's contribution to analysis of the relation between similarity and image, and proceed to focus on Husserl's contribution to the topic of primary iconism.
