Editorial
Dear readers,
At the beginning of January, my wife and I had the pleasure of visiting our founding editor, Prof. Günter Petzow, at his home near Stuttgart. It was a very warm and happy reunion. However, at the age of 97, it has become really difficult for our “Petz” physically. Fortunately, he has full-time professional support. He asked me to send his best wishes to all of you. He would like us as a metallographic family to continue to develop our journal, Practical Metallography, as an information and communication platform while honoring tradition. I think we can only agree, dear Petz. We wish you all the best for the future!
This issue is particularly about steel: we report in various articles from Slovakia, China and India on the search for the optimum balance between mechanical properties and also corrosion and fatigue. And the editorial section deals with climate-neutral steel production, among other things.

Liebe Leserinnen und Leser,
Anfang Januar hatten meine Frau und ich die Freude, unseren Gründungsherausgeber, Prof. Günter Petzow, in seinem Haus nahe Stuttgart zu besuchen. Es war ein sehr herzliches und fröhliches Wiedersehen. Allerdings ist es mit 97 Jahren für unseren „Petz“ körperlich wirklich schwierig geworden. Zum Glück hat er ganztätig professionelle Unterstützung. Er bat mich, Ihnen allen die besten Grüße zu senden. Er wünscht sich, dass wir als metallographische Familie unsere Zeitschrift, die Praktische Metallographie, als Informations- und Kommunikationsplattform immer weiter entwickeln und dabei die Traditionen ehren. Ich denke, da können wir nur zustimmen, lieber Petz. Wir wünschen Dir weiterhin von Herzen alles Gute!
In diesem Heft geht es besonders um Stahl: Wir berichten in verschiedenen Beiträgen aus der Slovakei, China und Indien über die Suche nach der optimalen Balance zwischen den mechanischen Eigenschaften und auch Korrosion sowie Ermüdung. Und im redaktionellen Teil geht es u. a. um die klimaneutrale Stahlproduktion.
Eine interessante Lektüre wünscht
