Abstract

This article deals with different interpretations of death in modern systems of society and explains some normative implications and ethical consequences. Against those theories, which offer a friendly opinion about death as only natural and necessary for the development of further generations, the Christian theology of the cross and also basic death anticipations of human beings provides an understanding of death as an enemy. The task of ethics is to focus the chances and risks of media productions of death. Moreover there is the need to formulate critical reservations against exaggerated images of human dying in dignity and a human responsibility for the shaping of one’s own death.
