Valuing African voices in Colleges/Schools of Education: introducing the Special Issue

Abstract

This article is aimed at introducing the Special Issue on “African Experiences in America’s Colleges/Schools of Education.” It also introduces the voices that are from African nations–these professionals are educated and employed in various regions of the United States. While their experiences in Colleges/Schools of Education (C/SOEs) have been rewarding, they have encountered negative experiences that are results of racism and xenophobia. The question is, How can their negative encounters be reduced so that they can maximize their fullest potential as students, faculty, staff, administrators, and leaders? This article sets the stage for responses to this question.
