Abstract

Mennonites have held to the central ethical concept of following the nonviolent Jesus (discipleship) for centuries, but its implications for engagement with the broader society have changed dramatically. Since the 1950s new theological perspectives and church practices have brought forth fruitful social engagement and internationally recognized strategies for peace and justice.
