    Thomas Metten studied German language and literature, philosophy and history of art at the University Koblenz-Landau in Germany. In his Ph.D. thesis he developed a media theory of language based on concepts of the French philosopher Jacques Derrida. At present, he works as a Lecturer in the Department of German Language and Literature Studies as well as in the Department for Cultural Studies at the University of Koblenz-Landau. Previously, he worked as a university spokesperson, a freelance journalist and a PR agent for newspapers, ress agencies and other public institutions. His major research interests are language and media theory, identity and diversity in interaction, discourse analysis and image theory. 210
