January 1, 2016 marks a new beginning for Libri: The International Journal of Libraries and Information Services. After many years of service to the journal, Svend Larsen, Editor-in-Chief, Ian Johnson, and Nancy John, Managing Editors are stepping down. We are forever indebted to Svend, Ian, and Nancy, for their energy and commitment to making Libri one of the top journals in the field of Library and Information Science. We would also like to extend many thanks to Jesper Boserup Thestrup, Editorial Assistant. On behalf of DeGruyter and the editorial team, we wish them great success in their future endeavors.

At this time, DeGruyter wishes to announce the appointment of Editors Kendra Albright and Theo Bothma as Editors-in-Chief of the journal. Dr. Albright is a Professor at the University of South Carolina’s School of Library and Information Science and Professor Bothma is Head of Department at the University of Pretoria’s Department of Information Science. We are confident that Libri will continue to excel and continue its upward trend in the rankings. Please join us in welcoming Kendra and Theo in their new role. We’d also like to welcome BriAnne Baxley who will join us as Editorial Assistant for Libri.

Along with the changes in the editors, we would also like to announce a substantial revision of the Editorial Advisory Board. We would like to thank the outgoing board members for their many years of helping to build and grow Libri. The names of the new board members are listed in the front of each issue.

The Libri website offers resources for authors and readers. Author instructions are found at http://www.degruyter.com/view/supplement/s18658423_Instructions_for_Authors_en.pdf.

Libri has initiated a media and publicity campaign to announce its publishing program and the venues available to authors. The Libri Editors-in-Chief offer guidance and advice to all potential authors.

Libri, established in 1950 and a leading international scholarly journal, investigates the functions of libraries and information services from both a historical and present-day perspective and analyses the role of information in cultural, organizational, national and international developments.

The periodical reports on current trends in librarianship worldwide and describes their resulting transformation from the introduction of new information technologies, multidisciplinary approaches, changing practices, and evolving methods. Background information and the latest research findings in librarianship and information science are made accessible to academics, practitioners, and a broader public.

Articles are in English and conform to the highest academic standards. For further information, contact the editors at Libri.editors@degruyter.com.
