Abstract
This article provides a short introduction to the present special issue of the Journal of European Tort Law. After explaining the pertinent terminology of ‘atomised’ or ‘scattered’ losses and sketching out some examples, the author discusses procedural and substantive solutions to the problem and analyses them from a conceptual point of view.
Note
This and the following articles are revised versions of lectures given at the 14th Annual Conference on European Tort Law from April 9 to April 11, 2015 in a special conference session on Dispersed, Low-Value Losses.
