Recent advances in the electrochemistry and spectroelectrochemistry of membrane proteins

  • Frederic Melin was born in 1976 near Paris, France. He received his PhD from the Université de Strasbourg in 2005 under the supervision of Dr. Jean Weiss. After post-doctoral studies with Prof. Luis Echegoyen in Clemson University (USA) and Dr. Fabrice Odobel in Université de Nantes (France) he moved back to Strasbourg as a ‘Maítre de Conférences’. His main research interests deal with the vibrational spectroscopy and electrochemistry of nanoparticles and proteins assemblies.

Petra Hellwig was born in 1970 in Dortmund, Germany. She received her diploma in Chemistry in 1995 and a PhD from the Friedrich Alexander Universität Erlangen in 1998. After postdoctoral studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (USA) and at the University of Frankfurt (Germany), she habilitated in 2002 in the biophysics department at the University of Frankfurt. Since 2006 she is full Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Strasbourg in France. In 2007 she was awarded a Chaire d’Excellence and since 2011 she is a member of the Institute Universitaire de France (IUF). Her main research interests include the study of the reaction mechanism of proteins on a molecular level using vibrational spectroscopies including the far infrared and Raman, as well as coupled electrochemical approaches.
