Abstract

The linear, calligraphic and syntactic observable attributes in rongorongo signs would point to the fact that they were not merely arranged ‘pretty pictures,’ rather than part of an organized system with an internal scriptural-like logic. Rongorongo as perceived and applied by the ancient Rapanui masters, not only testifies to their creative genius, but also to a fine art delivered for spiritual and social-practical purposes. Additional comparisons with other worldly or otherworldly systems - phonetic or not - bring more insight to the context of study.
