Abstract

The chronic, lifelong anemias, diagnosed in childhood and extending into adult life are due to genetic defects that either affect the production and maturation of the red blood cells or that shorten the lifespan of the red blood cell and promote chronic hemolysis. In this review, various anemias and management from childhood into adulthood will be discussed.
