About this book
The volume contains the critical edition of a vernacular collection of lives of the saints around 1300, most of which come from the Legenda aurea des Jacopo da Varazze and present its earliest vernacularisation. In addition, the volume provides a linguistic examination of the style and strategies used to translate hagiographic texts and their specific iconography into the vernacular. A comprehensive glossary is appended.
Edizione critica di una raccolta di Vite di Santi in volgare settentrionale (1330 ca.), in buona parte versioni di testi contenuti nella Legenda aurea di Jacopo da Varazze, di cui rappresentano alcuni fra i più antichi volgarizzamenti. Il volume è corredato di un approfondito studio linguistico e di un ampio glossario. Particolare attenzione è dedicata allo studio dello stile e delle strategie traduttive.
