There is no unification without normalization. Germany’s division fostered peace and stability, until a unified Germany, integrated into Europe, brought about better conditions in 1990. This development has been studied attentively in Cyprus and East Asia, without it leading to any similar processes. Werner Pfenner analyzes developments and contexts in China, Taiwan, Cyprus, and Korea.
