About this book
Bioactive Four-Membered Heterocycles provides detailed information on the green synthesis of the structurally diverse pharmaceutically active four-membered heterocycles. It covers both synthesis and biological aspects and highlights the role of four-membered heterocycles in drugs and drug designing. It also includes naturally occurring bioactive four-membered heterocycles.
- State-of-the-art guide on 4-membered heterocycles.
- Indispensable to medicinal chemists.
Author / Editor information
Bubun Banerjee received his Ph.D. degree from Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal, India. He has nearly ten years of experience in the field of research related to green and sustainable developments. Presently he is working as an assistant professor of chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Akal University, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda, Punjab, India. Dr. Banerjee published more than 110 research articles in the internationally renowned journals and authored twenty book chapters; he also co-edited twenty books and guest edited sixteen different special thematic issues of different journals.
Prof. Jitender M. Khurana (born May 1954) completed his B.Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry and M.Sc. with specialization in organic Chemistry from University of Delhi, Delhi. He completed his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1982. Subsequently, he spent three years as a post-doctoral fellow at University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada (Oct. 1982- Sept. 1983), Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin (Oct. 1983- June. 1985) and Lehigh University, Bethelhem, Pennsylvania (July 1985 - Nov. 1985), USA. After coming back to India, he joined Department of Chemistry, University of Delhi as Lecturer in January 1986. He worked as an International Fellow at SRI (Stanford Research Institute) International, Menlo Park, California (USA) from January 1995 to October 1997 and joined as a Reader in the Department after coming back. He was appointed as a Professor in May 2003 in the Department of Chemistry. Professor Khurana has published over 190research papers in National and International Journals and has 8 patents, including 5 US Patents, to his credit from SRI International. He has completed projects from DST, CSIR and UGC, India. He has supervised over 35 Ph.D. students and 15 M.Phil. students. He retired from University of Delhi in May 2019 and later served as Visiting Faculty at J C Bose University of Science and Technology. His areas of research included development of synthetic methodologies, reaction mechanisms, syntheses of novel heterocycles using environmentally benign approaches and photophysical studies. He has served as member of various academic and administrative bodies.
