Languages:
German, French

About this book
The study deals with aspects of present-day French language policy both with regard to its historical, political, and ideological roots and in terms of the reception accorded to it by speakers, the media, and the law-courts. Interest focusses on the latest piece of language legislation, the "loi Toubon" of 1994, the decrees on 'politically correct' forms (e.g. feminizations), and linguistic analysis of the material provided by official sources and published in the "Journal officiel".
