Internationales Germanistenlexikon 1800-1950

The Internationale Germanistenlexikon is an encyclopedia that gives comprehensive information about the biography, research interests and publications of nearly 1500 scholars concerned with the German language and literature around the world. The contributions were written by 700 scientists from all over the world. This encyclopedia will be a standard work for all investigations dealing with the history of German humanities and a key to important data of cultural history. The print edition is complemented by a CD-ROM that offers additional content and the opportunity to search quickly for details like the different poets a scholar dealt with, memberships in literary societies, the libraries which manage the scientific/letter estate and so on.

Christoph König is Director of the Department for Research into the History of German Studies at the German Literary Archive in Marbach and teaches at the University of Stuttgart.

Birgit Wägenbaur was on the academic staff of the German Literary Archive in the Department for Research into the History of German Studies from 1995 until 2002.
