This chapter is in the book Stretchable Electronics

Abstract

Strain gauges, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, building windows, cattle trackers, and agricultural monitoring are among engineering applications that are considered as mature. This is because conventional material and device technologies have created markets that are seemingly saturated and self-content. Recently, new possibilities are emerging from the material and structure design technologies derived from stretchable electronics. In this chapter, the impacts that the emergence of stretchable electronics made to recent advances in various engineering fields are reviewed as fresh looks at the old topics.
