About this book
Rhetoric reflects the agonal memory culture of Athenian democracy in a special way: in public meetings and at public trials, peopled made arguments using mythical and historical events, people, and practices, closely interweaving them with the politics of the day. In this volume, the struggle for memory and the interpretation of the joint past is revealed to be a constant process of negotiation between speaker and listeners.

Reviews
