About this book
Mannequins are mobile sculptures in human shape. For the first time, the monograph describes their cultural roots in Christian and profane cults since ancient times along with their place in modern culture and science. It traces the use of mannequins as models and sources of inspiration in the atelier and analyzes their transformation from hidden models to symbols of modernity.
