About this book

Nearly 15 years after the formal recognition of indigenous peoples and their rights, this study uses the example of Yucatec Maya to examine Mexico’s complex multilingual tradition. Offering a speaker-centric perspective on the vitality of Maya, this comprehensive study paints a differentiated picture of the current situation of the language. It thus promises to be a valuable aid to future speaker-oriented revitalization projects.
