Abstract
This chapter describes the application of modern supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC), coupled with mass spectrometry (MS), for the analysis of various classes of doping agents. Even if liquid chromatography (LC) and gas chromatography (GC) remain the reference techniques for doping control analysis, SFC appears as a promising strategy for the determination of numerous doping agents owing to the recent progresses. Indeed, this chromatographic technique appears as a faster, greener, more universal, and orthogonal analytical method compared to LC-MS and GC-MS. It also offers improved sensitivity, lower matrix effects, and excellent precision when analyzing biological fluids. For all these reasons, SFC-MS is expected to be more and more widely used in doping control laboratories.
