            About this book
During the 19th century the Swiss art world was characterized by intense interaction with other countries. The author examines these interrelations to develop a new conception of Swiss art, using the example of the Swiss student of David, Hans Jakob Oeri, to reveal the ties between art, governmental affairs, artistic mobility, and artistic reception. The work thus presents for the first time a history of the Swiss Academy of Fine Arts.
