About this book

This book presents a comparative study of the locative constituents used in existential constructions: ‘il y a’ in French, ‘hay’ in Spanish, and ‘c’è’ in Italian. The first part discusses their role from a morphological, discursive, semantic, and syntactic point of view. The second part analyzes the syntactic and discursive behavior of different semantic types of locatives in a large textual corpus.

Ce livre présente une analyse comparée des localisateurs utilisés dans les constructions existentielles: ‹il y a› (français), ‹hay› (espagnol) et ‹c’è› (italien). Il discute leur rôle d’un point de vue morphologique, discursif, sémantique et syntaxique et analyse le comportement syntaxique et discursif des différents types sémantiques de localisateurs dans un large corpus écrit. Il apparaît que ‹il y a› fonctionne plutôt comme un signe introducteur figé que comme un prédicat existentiel et cela dans une plus large mesure que ‹hay› et ‹c’è›.
